The Sphinx's Sweet Garden
In the heart of the Whispering Jungle, young Lily followed a trail of glowing butterflies until she reached a magnificent stone gate. Beyond it grew the most beautiful papaya tree she had ever seen—its fruits glowed like tiny golden suns!
But something amazing stood guard. An ancient sphinx with emerald eyes and wings like starlight blocked her path.
"Answer my riddle," the sphinx purred gently, "and you may share my papaya harvest."
Lily's knees trembled, but she nodded bravely.
Then from behind the papaya tree shuffled someone unexpected—a friendly zombie with flowered overalls and dirt on her nose.
"I'm Zara!" the zombie said cheerfully, offering a wave. "I tend the sphinx's garden. Don't worry—I'm not scary. I just really love growing fruit!"
Lily gasped in wonder. She had never met a zombie gardener before!
"What has roots but cannot grow, has mouth but cannot speak?" the sphinx asked.
Lily thought hard while Zara watered the papaya plants with a smiling face. Suddenly, Lily's eyes brightened.
"A river!" she shouted. "Rivers have riverbed roots but can't grow like plants, and they have river mouths but can't speak!"
The sphinx clapped her paws delightedly. "Correct! And how wonderful—you've also learned that friends come in all shapes and sizes."
Together, Lily, Zara, and the sphinx shared the sweet papaya under the jungle canopy. Lily learned that sometimes the most magical discoveries aren't just golden fruits, but the unexpected friendships we find along the way.
"Come back anytime!" Zara called as Lily skipped home, her heart full of wonder and the sweet taste of papaya still on her lips.
