The Sphinx's Stormy Riddle

Lily loved helping in Grandma's garden, especially the **spinach** patch where emerald leaves curled like sleeping dragons. One evening, as she watered the plants, something peculiar happened. A bolt of **lightning** struck the ground, and where the flash faded, a magnificent creature appeared.

It was a **sphinx** — golden fur shimmering like honey, with the body of a lion and the face of a wise child. But this sphinx looked sad.

"I've forgotten my riddles," the sphinx sighed, her voice like wind through chimes. "Without riddles, I cannot guard the garden's magic."

Lily's heart went out to the lonely creature. "Maybe I can help!"

"You must catch me first!" The sphinx's eyes twinkled. Suddenly, she was **running** — zooming between tomato plants and leaping over carrot rows with impossible grace.

Lily chased after her, laughing as she dodged around sunflowers and hopped over pumpkin vines. With each step, something magical stirred in her chest. The spinach leaves began to glow, tiny bolts of lightning dancing between them.

"Why do you love this garden?" the sphinx called back, still sprinting.

"Because Grandma plants love in every seed!" Lily shouted, her breath coming fast but her heart full.

The sphinx stopped suddenly. The storm of lightning around the spinach swirled into a brilliant crown above her head.

"You answered my riddle without knowing it was one!" The sphinx smiled, and her golden fur gleamed even brighter. "Love is the greatest magic of all."

From that day on, Lily visited her sphinx friend every sunset. They would race through the garden, lightning crackling in the spinach patch, their friendship growing stronger with every adventure. Lily learned that the best magic wasn't in spells or potions — it was in kindness, courage, and the joy of helping a friend in need.

And sometimes, when lightning storms flashed across the evening sky, Lily would swear she saw her sphinx friend racing through the clouds, reminding everyone that true friendship can weather any storm together.
