The Sphinx's Starry Secret

Leo loved sleeping under the open sky. One warm night, he curled up on his favorite blanket beneath the swaying palm tree in his backyard. The leaves whispered ancient secrets, and Leo closed his eyes, dreaming of adventures.

A soft glow woke him. Above, the great bull constellation had twinkled to life, its golden horns glowing like captured sunlight. The bull lowered its head and spoke in a voice like gentle thunder. "Leo, the Sphinx needs your help."

Before Leo could answer, the constellation bull's light wrapped around him like a warm blanket. Suddenly, he stood in a desert of sparkling sand, where an enormous pyramid rose toward the stars — but not like the ones in books. This pyramid was made entirely of glowing books, stacked higher than clouds.

At its base sat the Sphinx, her lion body glistening like moonlight. But she wasn't fierce or mysterious. She looked worried.

"The Book Pyramid is crumbling!" she said. "Children have stopped reading stories, and without their imagination, the magic that holds us together is fading."

Leo's heart pounded. "What can I do?"

"Climb to the top," said the Sphinx, "and read aloud the book that glows brightest there. Your voice will remind children why stories matter."

The sphinx gave Leo a boost, and he climbed the spiraling tower of books. Fairy tales tickled his fingers. Adventure stories made his heart race. When he reached the pinnacle, one book shamed brighter than all the rest.

Leo opened it and began to read aloud. His voice carried across the desert, wrapping around the world. In every bedroom, children's dreams filled with castles, dragons, friendly monsters, and impossible adventures. Their collective imagination rushed back like a golden wind, strengthening the pyramid's foundations.

The Sphinx purred with happiness. "You saved more than stories, Leo. You saved the magic that lives inside every child."

The bull constellation carried Leo home, tucking him back beneath his palm tree. The morning sun found him smiling, his notebook filled with new story ideas. He ran inside to share them with his little sister, because now he knew the truth: every story read aloud keeps the magic alive for everyone.
