The Sphinx's Starry Hair
Lily loved exploring the magical forest behind her house. One sunny afternoon, she followed a trail of glowing butterflies until she reached a clearing she'd never seen before.
There sat a magnificent sphinx with golden fur and gentle eyes. But something was wrong. The sphinx looked sad, her great wings drooping.
"What's wrong?" Lily asked bravely.
"I've lost my magic hair," the sphinx sighed. "It flows like starlight and helps me light the way for lost travelers. Without it, I can't guide anyone home safely."
Lily looked around and noticed something moving in the sky above them - a giant bull made of stars, galloping across the clouds. Something shimmering streamed from the starry bull's horns like a golden river.
"Is that...?" Lily pointed.
"The Starry Bull!" the sphinx cried. "He must have accidentally caught my hair when he passed by last night. He's so fast, he probably didn't even notice!"
The bull descended slowly, his coat twinkling like the night sky. He looked confused when he saw the sphinx.
"You have something of mine," the sphinx said kindly.
The starry bull shook his head, and the magical hair floated down, winding around the sphinx's neck like a glowing scarf. The bull looked sheepish.
"I'm sorry," he seemed to say with his big, gentle eyes. "I thought it was stardream."
Lily had an idea. "Next time, just ask! Friends always ask before they take something, even by accident."
The sphinx smiled. "Would you like to be friends, Starry Bull? You could help me light the way too."
The bull nodded happily. From that day on, the sphinx and the Starry Bull worked together, guiding lost travelers through the magical forest. And sometimes, Lily would visit them all three sitting together, their friendship shining brighter than any star.
Lily learned that mistakes happen, but true friends fix them together - and asking is always better than taking.
