The Sphinx's Starlight Vitamin
Lily discovered the dusty old iPhone behind her grandmother's attic chest. It shimmered strangely, almost humming. When her finger touched the cracked screen, golden letters swirled like dust motes: 'HELP NEEDED IN THE REALM OF RIDDLES.'
The attic walls dissolved. Lily stood beside a towering golden sphinx with emerald eyes that twinkled like morning dew. 'Greetings, small one,' the sphinx rumbled kindly. 'I am Astra, guardian of the constellation paths. My starlight vitamin has been scattered by the mischievous North Wind. Without it, the stars grow dim each night.'
Lily's eyes widened. 'A starlight vitamin?'
'Tiny crystals that make stars sparkle,' Astra explained. 'They look like ordinary pebbles but glow with rainbow light when held near a true friend's heart. Will you help me find them before the stars fade completely?'
Lily nodded fiercely. The sphinx's paw pointed toward a swirling silver pathway that stretched into the cosmos. Together they stepped onto it—Lily's sneakers silent against what felt like spun moonlight.
Their first stop was the Cloud Kingdom, where starlight vitamins hid among cotton-candy clouds. Lily spotted one nestled in a cloud crevice. As she reached for it, the cloud spoke: 'Only one who shares freely may take what sparkles here.' Lily remembered her little brother Leo always wanting to play but being too small. She whispered, 'I wish I could share this adventure with Leo.' The cloud giggled and let her collect three glowing crystals.
Next came the Crystal Caves of Echo Mountain. A starlight vitamin floated in a deep pool, but the water's surface reflected a girl afraid to fail. Lily had failed her spelling test just yesterday. Her knees trembled, but she remembered her teacher's words: 'Mistakes are just proof you're trying.' She took a deep breath and reached in, murmuring, 'I'm brave even when I'm scared.' The vitamin sparkled brighter and floated into her palm.
At the final destination—the Rainbow Bridge—they found the last vitamin guarded by tiny star sprites who danced 'Finders keepers!' 'Not fair!' they chimed, bouncing the crystal between them. Lily thought about how she'd felt when her friend Maya wouldn't share her new markers.
'Maybe we could each keep one crystal,' Lily suggested gently, 'so everyone's light can shine brighter together.'
The sprites stopped bouncing. 'That's...' They looked at each other. 'That's actually nicer.' They gave her the final vitamin.
Astra's emerald eyes glowed with pride as Lily placed all the vitamins into a silver pouch. 'You've learned something more precious than starlight, young one—sharing, courage, and kindness make the brightest light of all.'
The sphinx poured the vitamins into the night sky. Stars burst into brilliant sparkle, shimmering like millions of tiny fireflies.
Back in the attic, Lily's iPhone was just a dusty old device again. But that night, as stars twinkled extra brightly through her window, Lily noticed something extraordinary—the stars seemed to wink, as if saying thank you to a very special friend.
