The Sphinx's Starlight Game

Leo loved visiting his grandmother's cottage, where the ancient palm tree in her garden whispered secrets in the wind. One evening, as golden light painted the sky, Leo noticed something strange—a tiny door had appeared in the palm tree's trunk, shaped like a crescent moon.

Curious, he pushed it open and gasped. Inside sat a small sphinx, no bigger than a cat, with emerald eyes that sparkled like captured stars. Unlike scary sphinxes from storybooks, this one smiled warmly.

"Welcome, young friend," the sphinx purred. "I've been waiting for someone brave enough to knock. My name is Zuri, and I'd love to teach you my favorite game—moonlight padel."

"Padel?" Leo asked, tilting his head.

Zuri giggled, and two glowing paddles appeared in the air. They shimmered with rainbow lights. "Not the kind humans play. This is magic padel! The ball is a starbeam, and when you hit it, it sings!"

That night, under a canopy of twinkling stars, Leo learned to play. Each time his paddle touched the singing starball, it chimed like tiny bells. Zuri was patient and kind, laughing whenever Leo missed.

"The magic isn't about winning," Zuri said softly as they rested. "It's about joy, friendship, and believing in wonder. Whenever you feel lonely, just visit the palm tree. I'll always be here for another game."

Leo hugged the tiny sphinx. "I'll never forget you."

"And I'll never forget you," Zuri promised, pressing a warm paw into Leo's palm. A silver mark appeared there—a crescent moon that glowed whenever he was brave or kind.

Now, whenever Leo feels afraid, he touches his palm and remembers: magic exists for those who believe in friendship and fun. And every summer, he returns to the palm tree, where Zuri waits with starlight paddles ready for another game under the stars.
