The Sphinx's Silly Spell
Lily loved playing in her backyard, especially on hot summer days. While swimming in her plastic pool, she noticed something strange—a golden sparkly path leading to the old oak tree.
Following the magic path, she found a magnificent sphinx sitting on a tree stump! The sphinx had lion paws, eagle wings, and the kindest face Lily had ever seen.
"Hello, little one," said the sphinx in a voice like tinkling bells. "I need your help! My silly friend Bear is under a zombie spell."
Lily's eyes grew wide. "A zombie spell?"
The sphinx giggled. "Not a scary zombie! Just a very sleepy spell. He walks around saying ' brains' because he's too tired to say 'breakfast!' Can you help me wake him up?"
Lily nodded bravely. Together, they followed tiny bear tracks to a secret cave behind a waterfall. Inside, they found Bear—a fuzzy brown bear shuffling in circles, mumbling " brains... brains..."
The sphinx whispered, "Only true friendship can break this spell. What do bears love most?"
Lily thought hard. "Honey! And hugs! And... swimming!"
She took Bear's paw and led him outside. The sphinx flapped her beautiful wings, creating a gentle breeze. Bear's eyes brightened at the fresh air.
Then Lily had the best idea. She guided Bear to her backyard pool. "Maybe swimming will wake you up!" she cheered.
Bear splashed into the cool water, and suddenly he started dancing! "Honey!" he shouted joyfully. "I mean honey, not brains!" He did a happy bear dance, spraying water everywhere.
The zombie spell was broken!
The sphinx hugged them both. "You did it! Friendship and fun are stronger than any sleeping spell."
That day, Lily learned that the best magic comes from kindness, imagination, and helping friends—even if they're fuzzy bears or magical sphinxes. And every summer, she and Bear would go swimming together, always ready for their next magical adventure.
