The Sphinx's Silly Secret
The lightning flashed across the sky as Lily peered through her attic window. Rain drummed against the glass like tiny fairy footsteps. She loved storms—they made the world feel magical and alive.
In the corner of the attic, something glinted. An old iphone sat atop a dusty trunk, left behind by her grandmother. Lily touched the screen, and it flickered to life with a soft golden glow. Strange symbols swirled across it, forming a map to somewhere called the Whispering Woods.
"A spy mission!" Lily whispered, grabbing her raincoat. She followed the iphone's magical path through the garden, where puddles sparkled like liquid silver.
In the heart of the woods stood an enormous stone sphinx with enormous feathered wings. But what made Lily gasp was its hair—a magnificent, rainbow-colored mane that flowed like a waterfall of cotton candy.
"I've been waiting for you," the sphinx rumbled kindly. "My hair holds the magic of all the world's colors, but I've forgotten how to use it. Will you help me remember?"
Lily nodded eagerly. Together, they discovered that when lightning struck nearby, the sphinx's hair would crackle with energy, painting beautiful pictures in the sky—dragons, castles, flowers, and whole galaxies of stars.
"The magic was never lost," Lily realized. "You just needed someone to share it with."
The sphinx smiled, and that night, they created the most magnificent light show the world had ever seen. Lily learned that the greatest magic isn't in phones or lightning, but in friendship and sharing your gifts with others.
Now, whenever storms come, Lily watches for the sphinx's colorful hair dancing in the sky, painting wonder for everyone below.
