The Sphinx's Silly Hair

Lily loved exploring the old library behind her house. One rainy afternoon, she discovered a dusty book with a golden cover. When she opened it, a tiny **sphinx** popped out!

"Oh my!" Lily gasped. The sphinx was no bigger than her hand, with wings like a hummingbird and the fluffiest **hair** she had ever seen. It stuck out in every direction, making the little creature look like a golden dandelion.

The sphinx looked embarrassed. "I'm Sophie," she squeaked. "I've been stuck in that book for three hundred years because I can't solve my own riddle!"

"What's your riddle?" Lily asked gently.

Sophie sighed. "What makes you strong when you hate it most?"

Lily thought hard. Then she remembered her lunchbox. "Wait—I know!" She dug into her bag and pulled out a container of **spinach**. "I always hate eating this, but Mom says it makes me strong. Is that the answer?"

Sophie's eyes widened. "Yes! But you have to eat it!"

"Together?" Lily suggested.

Together, they shared the spinach. As soon as Sophie ate her leaf, her wild hair began to glow and float like golden ribbons. She grew bigger until she was Lily's size!

"You solved it!" Sophie cheered. "And now I have a **friend**!"

From that day on, Sophie and Lily had adventures all over town. Sophie helped Lily with her homework (ancient sphinxes know EVERYTHING), and Lily helped Sophie learn about the modern world—like ice cream and bicycles.

Lily learned that the things we think are weird or annoying might actually be magical in disguise. And Sophie learned that the best riddles are the ones you solve together.

They lived happily ever after, having the most wonderful adventures—especially the day they discovered that chocolate ice cream makes sphinx hair sparkle like tiny stars!
