The Sphinx's Secret Wish
Lily loved summer evenings, especially when she could splash in her backyard pool under the stars. One night, something magical happened.
A glowing golden cable descended from the sky, dipping into the water. Suddenly, the surface began to shimmer. Out popped a sphinx - with the body of a golden lion and the face of a wise woman.
"Greetings!" said the sphinx, shaking water droplets from her magnificent mane. "I am Cleopatra, guardian of the Great Pyramid."
Lily's eyes grew wide. "You're REAL!"
"Indeed," Cleo nodded. "For three thousand years, I've asked riddles to travelers. But tonight, I discovered something wonderful - your pool!" She splashed happily. "In the desert, water is precious. I've always wanted to swim!"
"Will you teach me a riddle?" Lily asked, running to the pool's edge.
Cleo smiled. "I have a better idea. Let's play!" The sphinx showed Lily how to make the biggest splashes. They laughed and played until the moon began to set.
"I must return to my pyramid now," Cleo said reluctantly. "But I learned something important. Even guardians need joy and friendship."
"Will you come back?" Lily asked.
"Every summer night," Cleo promised. "Thank you for showing me that the best treasures aren't gold or jewels - they're moments shared with friends."
As Cleo disappeared through her magical golden cable, she left Lily with a special gift: the wisdom that adventure and friendship make life truly magical.
Now, whenever Lily sees the stars twinkle above her pool, she smiles - knowing her sphinx friend is splashing somewhere between the pyramids and the moon.
