The Sphinx's Secret Well
Lily loved exploring her grandmother's garden, especially on days when the sun painted everything gold. But today she discovered something she'd never noticed before—a tiny stone path hidden behind the rosebushes.
She followed it deeper into the garden until she reached a clearing where a small **sphinx** sat. This sphinx was only the size of a cat, with soft moss growing on its wings and emerald eyes that sparkled like jewels.
"Hello, young traveler," the sphinx said in a voice like wind chimes. "I've been waiting for someone with a kind heart."
Lily's eyes went wide. "You can talk?"
"Magic happens when you believe," the sphinx replied mysteriously. "Behind me lies the Magic **Water** Well. Its water can bring back what has been lost."
Lily gasped. "My teddy bear! Mr. Fluffles lost his arm last week, and he's been sitting on my shelf looking so sad. Can you help him?"
The sphinx smiled. "But you must answer my riddle first: What has a heart but cannot beat?"
Lily thought hard. "A... a story?"
"Correct!" The sphinx stepped aside, revealing a small well with water that shimmered like liquid stars. "Take some **water** home and sprinkle it on Mr. Fluffles. But remember—the magic only works if you truly love what you wish to mend."
Lily carefully collected some water in a special jar the sphinx gave her. When she got home, she gently sprinkled the magical water over Mr. Fluffles. To her amazement, his arm stitched itself back together, and suddenly the old bear looked brand new!
"You're not a **zombie** bear anymore!" Lily laughed, hugging him tight. "You're alive again!"
Grandma smiled from the doorway. "Sometimes, my dear, love is the strongest magic of all. The sphinx appears only to those who remember to cherish old friends."
That night, Lily slept with Mr. Fluffles in her arms, knowing that magic was real—and that kindness could heal almost anything.
