The Sphinx's Secret Vitamin

Lily loved exploring her grandmother's attic. Every Saturday, she discovered something new—old photographs, dusty books, and mysterious trunks. But one rainy afternoon, she found something extraordinary: a small golden statue of a sphinx with glowing emerald eyes.

"Hello, little one," the sphinx spoke, stretching its stone wings. Lily's eyes grew wide as saucers.

"You... you can talk?" she whispered.

The sphinx nodded. "I am Cairo, guardian of the Vitamin of True Friendship. For fifty years, I've been waiting for someone kind enough to receive my gift."

Lily's heart fluttered like a trapped butterfly. "What's a Vitamin of True Friendship?"

Cairo smiled gently. "Not a vitamin you swallow, but one you share. It makes your heart grow stronger every time you use it. Would you like to see?"

She nodded eagerly.

The sphinx blew sparkling dust that swirled around Lily, carrying her into a magical vision. She saw herself at school, noticing new girl Maya sitting alone at lunch. In the vision, Lily approached Maya, and as they shared cookies and laughs, golden sparkles flowed between them.

"That's the Vitamin of Friendship," Cairo explained. "Every time you're kind, include someone, or share something special, you both grow stronger."

The vision faded, and Lily was back in the attic, holding the golden sphinx.

"But why did you wait so long?" Lily asked.

"Because friendship vitamins only work for pure hearts," Cairo said. "Now, here's your mission: find someone who needs a friend today."

On Monday, Lily spotted Maya reading alone during recess. Remembering Cairo's words, she approached shyly. "Hi, I'm Lily. Want to read together?"

Maya's face lit up. "I was hoping someone would ask!" Golden sparkles danced between them—invisible to everyone but Lily.

At bedtime, Lily whispered to the sphinx on her nightstand, "I gave someone a friendship vitamin today!" Cairo's emerald eyes twinkled warmly, and Lily fell asleep dreaming of all the friends she would make tomorrow.
