The Sphinx's Secret Spring

Lily loved exploring behind her grandmother's old house. One sunny afternoon, she pushed through tangled vines and discovered something magical — a stone sphinx with emerald eyes, guarding a crystal spring.

"I've been waiting for you," the sphinx rumbled kindly. "This water holds a special magic. It can bring things back to life."

Lily gasped as she looked at the garden nearby. Rows of spinach plants lay brown and wilted. "My grandmother tried so hard to grow those," she whispered. "They died during the hot week."

"Watch," said the sphinx.

Lily dipped her cupped hands into the sparkling water and poured it over the wilted plants. Something extraordinary happened. The spinach didn't just grow — it shimmered and glowed! The leaves perked up, turned brilliant green, and the plants began to sway gently as if dancing to invisible music.

"They're like zombie spinach!" Lily laughed. "They came back to life!"

The sphinx smiled. "In this garden, nothing is truly gone forever. Everything deserves a second chance — even a little spinach."

Lily returned every day to tend her magical plants. She learned that patience, care, and a little magic could transform something that seemed lost forever into something wonderful.

And whenever she ate the delicious spinach from that garden, she felt a little spark of magic inside herself too.
