The Sphinx's Secret Spring

vitaminwatersphinx

Lily loved exploring behind her grandmother's old garden shed. That's where she found the tiny stone sphinx, no bigger than her hand, with emerald eyes that seemed to sparkle like captured stars.

"Hello, little guardian," Lily whispered, brushing away the golden leaves. The sphinx's wings fluttered—actually moved!—and a tiny voice chimed like silver bells.

"I've waited fifty years for someone curious enough to find me. Are you brave enough to solve my riddle?"

Lily nodded so hard her red curls bounced.

"I have cities but no houses, mountains but no trees, water but no fish. What am I?"

"A MAP!" Lily shouted, and the sphinx did a joyful spin.

"Correct!" The sphinx grew to kitten-size, then cat-size, then taller than Lily herself. "Come with me. The Healing Waters need a true friend."

They stepped through a shimmering portal that smelled like rainbows and honey. Suddenly they stood beside the most beautiful spring Lily had ever seen. The water glowed with every color imaginable, and tiny lights danced across its surface like floating fireflies.

"This spring holds magic waters from the stars," the sphinx explained gently. "But something is wrong. Can you feel it?"

The colors were fading. The lights grew dim.

"The spring needs sunshine-vitamins to stay strong," the sphinx said. "Like how you eat oranges to stay healthy? The spring needs special light-vitamins from joy, friendship, and kindness."

Lily thought of her grandmother's warm hugs, her baby sister's giggles, her best friend Maya's silly jokes. She closed her eyes and imagined all the happy moments she'd ever known.

Golden particles drifted from her hands into the water—vitamins of joy! The spring's colors returned brighter than ever. The sphinx purred like a happy thunderstorm.

"You did it! The water will heal any creature who comes with a pure heart."

Lily reached in and let the magical water run through her fingers. It felt like being hugged by sunshine.

"Can I visit again?"

"Always," the sphinx promised. "True friends are never forgotten."

Back in her grandmother's garden, the sphinx was stone-small again. But now Lily knew that even tiny things could hold enormous magic—and that kindness was the most powerful vitamin of all.
