The Sphinx's Secret Riddle

Lily found the glowing iPhone under her bed, but it wasn't like any phone she'd ever seen. Instead of apps, it showed a swirling purple portal. When she touched it, a fluffy calico cat jumped through!

"Quick!" whispered Mittens the cat. "I'm a spy from the Magic Realm, and I need your help!"

Lily's eyes went wide. "A talking cat spy?"

"The Great Sphinx has forgotten her riddle," Mittens explained. "Without it, she can't protect the enchanted library. A grumpy zombie—well, he's really just a lonely mummy who needs a friend—is trying to turn all the storybooks into dust!"

Lily grabbed her backpack and followed Mittens through the iPhone's portal. They tumbled into a world where books flew like butterflies and rivers flowed with strawberry lemonade.

The Great Sphinx sat atop a pile of ancient books, looking confused. "Who... who am I? What do I guard?"

"You're the Keeper of Stories!" Lily called out bravely. "Your riddle opens children's imaginations!"

The zombie-mummy approached sadly. "I just wanted someone to read with me," he said.

Lily had an idea. "Everyone loves stories! Why don't we read together?"

She opened a magical book and began reading aloud. Soon, the Sphinx smiled as her memories returned. The mummy danced with joy. Even Mittens purred happily.

"My riddle!" the Sphinx announced. "What has pages but no voice, gives adventures but needs a reader?"

"A book!" Lily cried.

The Sphinx hugged her. "You solved it with kindness! That's the greatest magic of all."

Back in her room, Lily tucked the magical iPhone under her bed. Sometimes, the best adventures are the ones we share with friends—and even grumpy mummies just need a story and a friend.
