The Sphinx's Secret Riddle
Lily pushed her curly **hair** out of her eyes and squinted at the old library book. Her golden **dog** Sunny wagged his tail beside her, sensing her excitement. The pages showed pictures of mysterious creatures, but one caught her eye—a magnificent **sphinx** with the body of a lion and the head of a wise person.
"I wish we could meet a real sphinx," Lily whispered, closing the book.
That afternoon, Lily and Sunny played under the swaying **palm** tree in her backyard. The leaves rustled even though there was no wind. Suddenly, the air shimmered like sparkling sugar, and a creature appeared! It had golden fur, powerful paws, and a face full of ancient wisdom.
"You wished to see me," the sphinx spoke, and Lily gasped.
"Are you real?" she asked, reaching out.
"As real as your dreams," the sphinx answered with twinkling eyes. "But first, you must solve my riddle. I have watched you from afar, little **spy** of secrets." He winked. "You observe everything—the ants marching, the stars twinkling, the flowers blooming. What connects all living things?"
Lily thought hard. She watched Sunny nuzzle her hand. She remembered the palm tree giving shade, the sphinx appearing from magic.
"Love!" Lily exclaimed. "And friendship!"
The sphinx smiled, and his form began to glow. "You are wise beyond your years. Remember, the greatest magic is not in creatures like me, but in the love you share every day."
As he faded into sparkles, Lily knew she'd never forget this magical afternoon. Sunny licked her cheek, and she hugged him tight. Some secrets were worth keeping—and sharing with your best friend.
