The Sphinx's Secret Riddle

Lily loved exploring the beach near her grandmother's cottage. One afternoon, while the waves whispered against the shore, she noticed something strange glinting in the water. It wasn't a shell or sea glass — it was an old, golden iPhone, somehow still glowing despite being underwater!

Curious, Lily reached down and pulled it out. The screen flickered to life, showing a map with a mysterious X marked on the nearby cliffs. Without thinking, she became a spy, following the secret path through rocky caves and behind waterfalls until she reached a hidden chamber.

There, sleeping on a stone pedestal, was the most magnificent creature Lily had ever seen — a small sphinx with golden fur and bright, knowing eyes. But the most surprising part was its magnificent purple hair, flowing like a river of grape soda.

"I've been waiting for someone brave enough to find me," the sphinx said, stretching. "For a hundred years, I've guarded this treasure, but I cannot open it myself. Only a child with a pure heart can solve my riddle."

Lily's heart raced. "I'm ready!"

The sphinx smiled, its purple hair shimmering. "What runs but has no feet, flows but has no shape, and gives life to everything it touches?"

Lily thought hard. She looked at the ocean beyond, at the raindrops on the cave entrance, at the tears of joy in her grandmother's eyes when they visited. "Water!" she exclaimed.

"Correct!" The sphinx clapped its paws together. From behind the stone appeared a small box containing a silver shell. "This shell holds the power to grant one wish — but only for someone who uses it to help others."

Lily didn't hesitate. "I wish for clean water for every child in the world who doesn't have it."

The sphinx's purple hair sparkled brighter than ever. "You have chosen wisely, young friend. Your kindness will ripple through the world like water touches every shore." And with that magical promise, Lily hurried home, her heart full of wonder and her mind already planning her next adventure.
