The Sphinx's Secret Riddle

Lily loved running through her grandmother's garden, her bare feet padding softly on the warm grass. The old palm tree in the corner was her favorite spot—its fronds whispered secrets when the wind blew through them.

One hot afternoon, while Lily was running her usual laps around the garden, something extraordinary happened. The palm tree began to shimmer and glow. Suddenly, a small golden sphinx appeared, sitting curled on one of the palm's branches!

The sphinx had the body of a fluffy kitten, tiny feathered wings, and wise eyes that sparkled like tiny stars. Lily stopped running, her eyes wide with wonder.

"Greetings, young runner," the sphinx purred, its voice sounding like wind chimes. "I am Cleo, guardian of the Magical Palm Garden. I've been watching you run in circles every day."

Lily's mouth opened in surprise. "You can see me?"

"Of course!" Cleo stretched her wings. "But I wonder why you always run the same path? The garden has so many secrets to discover."

Lily thought about this. "I guess I never thought to look anywhere else."

Cleo smiled mysteriously. "Then let me share a secret. This palm tree is magic. If you run around it seven times while thinking of something kind, something wonderful will happen."

Lily's heart raced with excitement. She thought about her grandmother, who worked so hard caring for the garden. She began running around the palm tree, thinking: *I wish Grandma could see how beautiful her garden is.*

One circle. Two circles. Three circles. Lily kept running, faster and faster. Four, five, six...

On the seventh circle, the ground glowed with golden light. Hundreds of tiny sphinxes appeared, each holding a different flower from the garden. They danced around the palm tree, weaving the blossoms into a magnificent crown.

Cleo fluttered down and placed the crown on Lily's head. "Your pure heart has awakened the garden's magic. Whenever you run with kindness in your heart, wonder will follow."

From that day on, Lily never just ran in circles. She explored every corner of the garden, discovering hidden treasures and making new friends—especially Cleo, who taught her that the best adventures come from running with an open heart and curious mind.

And sometimes, if you look closely at the palm tree, you might still see a tiny golden sphinx resting among its fronds, waiting for the next kind-hearted runner to discover its magic.
