The Sphinx's Secret Riddle
Lily loved exploring her grandmother's attic. On a rainy Saturday, she discovered something magical tucked behind an old trunk—a glowing golden sphinx no bigger than her hand, with emerald eyes that sparkled like tiny stars.
"Hello, young friend," the sphinx rumbled, his voice like gentle thunder. "I've been waiting for someone brave enough to find me."
Lily's cat, Muffin, purred and rubbed against the sphinx, her silver fur shimmering.
"The sphinx needs our help!" Lily realized. "He's been trapped here for ages!"
The sphinx nodded sadly. "I cannot leave until someone solves my riddle. But here's the problem—I've forgotten it!"
Grandmother appeared in the doorway, smiling knowingly. "Perhaps this can help." She handed Lily her old iphone. "Some memories are stored in unexpected places."
Lily tapped the screen and found a recording app. When she held it near the sphinx, golden letters swirled in the air:
*What flows but cannot run?
What reflects but has no eyes?
What gives life to every flower
And falls from cloudy skies?*
Muffin meowed excitedly and pawed at a dusty paint can in the corner.
"Water!" Lily exclaimed. "The answer is water!"
The sphinx burst into brilliant light, growing until he filled the room. "Correct! You and your clever cat have freed me!"
As a reward, the sphinx touched his paw to the iphone's screen. "Now this device will show you wonders whenever you need them."
From that day on, whenever Lily felt curious or lonely, she would open her grandmother's old phone. Through its screen, she could see magical creatures dancing in raindrops, hear mermaids singing in the ocean, and watch constellations weave stories across the night sky.
Lily learned that the best adventures aren't found on screens—they're discovered with an open heart, a curious mind, and sometimes, a little magic from unexpected friends.
And Muffin? She became known as the cat who solved the sphinx's riddle, though she never did tell anyone exactly how she knew the answer was water all along.
