The Sphinx's Secret Promise

Lily skipped through her backyard, her golden **dog** Sunny bouncing beside her while Misty the grey **cat** watched lazily from the porch. They were playing their favorite game—exploring adventure lands in their imagination.

"Let's check the magical pond!" Lily cheered, running to the small garden pond. She peered into the water and gasped. A tiny **goldfish** with shimmering orange scales popped to the surface and

—amazingly—spoke!

"Hello, brave adventurer! I'm Finnigan, and I need your help!"

Lily rubbed her eyes. "A talking fish? This is the best adventure ever!"

Finnigan swam in excited circles. "My friend the Great Sphinx needs someone brave and kind to solve her riddle. Will you help?"

"Yes!" Lily clapped, and Sunny barked in agreement. Even Misty hopped down, her tail twitching with curiosity.

Finnigan led them through a secret passage behind the old **palm** tree in the corner of the yard. The leaves shimmered and sparkled as they stepped through—and suddenly, they weren't in the backyard anymore!

They stood in a beautiful golden desert where the Great Sphinx sat smiling gently. Her lion body gleamed in the sun, and her wise eyes twinkled.

"Welcome, young friends," the Sphinx said in a voice like wind through desert grass. "I have been lonely for centuries, waiting for someone with a pure heart. My riddle is this: What is something you can give away and still have more of?"

Lily thought hard, Sunny tilted his head, and Misty purred thoughtfully.

"Love!" Lily exclaimed. "Or kindness—or friendship! When you share them, you don't have less. You have MORE!"

The Sphinx's face lit up. "You are wise beyond your years, child. Will you be my friend?"

"Always!" Lily promised, hugging the Sphinx's golden paw.

And so, every day, Lily, Sunny, and Misty visited their Sphinx friend behind the palm tree, learning that the best magic of all is the magic of friendship—and that some promises, once made, last forever.
