The Sphinx's Secret Pool

Mia loved exploring her grandmother's garden, especially on rainy afternoons. One day, she spotted something shimmering behind the old rosebushes—a magical pool she had never noticed before.

In the center swam the most beautiful goldfish she had ever seen, with scales like tiny orange jewels.

"Hello," the goldfish said, surprising Mia. "I'm Fin. I've been waiting for someone brave enough to find this place."

Mia's eyes went wide. "You can talk?"

"Magic pools make anything possible," Fin bubbles. "But something is wrong. The Great Sphinx who guards our garden has been cursed. For a hundred years, she's been walking like a zombie—stuck between sleeping and waking, unable to remember who she is."

"Can we help her?" Mia asked, her heart pounding with adventure.

Fin nodded. "Only during a lightning storm, when magic fills the air, can the curse be broken. You must be brave and stand by the Sphinx statue. When lightning strikes, call out her true name: Amara."

That evening, thunder rumbled across the sky. Mia rushed to the garden, where a stone Sphinx stood covered in vines. Her eyes were closed, and she moved slowly, her zombie-like trance breaking Mia's heart.

CRACK! Lightning flashed, illuminating the garden.

"Amara!" Mia shouted, clutching Fin's magical words in her heart. "Amara, wake up!"

The lightning struck the Sphinx's crown, and golden light spread through her stone body. The zombie-like stiffness melted away. Her eyes opened, glowing with ancient wisdom.

"Thank you, child," Amara spoke, her voice like wind through chimes. "Your courage broke the spell. I am free."

The Sphinx gifted Mia a small golden scale from the pool. "Whenever you feel afraid, hold this and remember: true magic isn't about powers or potions. It's about kindness, bravery, and believing in yourself."

From that day on, Mia, Fin, and Amara were the best of friends, having magical adventures whenever lightning lit up the sky—and Mia never forgot that the strongest magic of all lives inside a kind heart.
