The Sphinx's Secret Pool
Lily pushed her broccoli around her plate, wishing for something magical to happen. And that's when her spaghetti **spy**glass began to glow!
"A spyglass that shows what's hidden," Grandma had whispered when she gave it to Lily. Now it tugged her toward the garden.
Peering through, Lily gasped. Behind the old oak tree, a crystal **pool** appeared where only mud had been before. And resting beside it was a magnificent **sphinx** with emerald wings and kind, golden eyes.
"Welcome, little one," the sphinx purred. "I've been waiting for someone pure of heart."
Lily tiptoed closer. Inside the pool swam the most beautiful **goldfish** she'd ever seen, its scales shimmering like rainbows.
"This is Golden," the sphinx said. "She guards the pool of wishes. But she needs help."
"What kind of help?" Lily asked, her heart racing with excitement.
The sphinx smiled mysteriously. "I've forgotten my magic words. They're hidden in something green and leafy, something that gives strength to body and mind. Can you guess?"
Lily thought hard. She looked at her garden. Then she remembered what her mom always said about vegetables.
"**Spinach**!" Lily cried out. "Spinach gives you strong muscles!"
The sphinx's eyes sparkled. "Clever child! Popeye knew its power long ago. Now, will you be my spy and help remember the magic?"
Lily nodded bravely. She watched as the sphinx sprinkled enchanted spinach leaves into the water. Golden swam happily, and suddenly, the pool filled with shimmering light.
"Thank you for reminding me," the sphinx said. "For your kindness, you may make one wish."
Lily thought carefully. "I wish that every child could have a magical adventure and learn that good food gives them power too!"
The sphinx nodded with approval. "A wise wish that helps many." She touched Lily's forehead with her paw. "Now you, too, are a guardian of hidden magic. Always remember: real strength comes from kindness and good food."
That night, Lily ate all her spinach with a smile. And sometimes, when she looked through her spyglass, she could still see the sphinx winking back, reminding her that magic exists for those who believe in wonder.
