The Sphinx's Secret Pool

Lily's golden retriever, Buster, tugged at her sleeve, whimpering excitedly. Something magical shimmered beyond the old oak tree in their backyard. Lily followed, her heart pounding with wonder.

There, in a sun-dappled clearing, stood a magnificent Sphinx with emerald eyes and wings like sunset clouds. Beside her glowed a crystal pool, its waters swirling with stardust.

"Young seeker," the Sphinx purred, "I guard the Pool of Dreams. But first, you must solve my riddle."

Buster sat politely, his tail thumping. The Sphinx smiled. "What makes you strong but isn't food? What helps you grow but isn't sunshine? What comes in small packages but holds big power?"

Lily thought hard. Then it clicked! "A VITAMIN!"

"Correct!" The Sphinx's wings flared, and magical lightning danced across the pool's surface. "You may swim and make one wish."

Lily jumped in—the water felt like floating in space! She wished for courage.

When she emerged, Buster licked her cheek. The Sphinx nodded approval. "True wisdom, child: the magic was inside you all along. The pool only helps you see it."

That night, Lily felt different. Braver. Stronger. She realized the real magic wasn't in wishes or pools—it was in believing in herself.
