The Sphinx's Secret Pool

Emma loved **running** through her grandmother's garden, especially on warm summer mornings. The old house held secrets around every corner, and Emma was determined to find them all.

One day, while wearing her favorite yellow sun **hat**, Emma noticed something she'd never seen before — a hidden gate behind the rose bushes. Her heart pounding with excitement, she pushed it open and discovered the most magical sight: a crystal-clear **pool** surrounded by ancient stone columns, with water that sparkled like diamonds.

But what made Emma gasp was the creature resting beside the water. It was a magnificent **sphinx**, with the body of a golden lion and the wise face of an owl. Unlike scary stories, this sphinx had kind eyes that twinkled like stars.

"Welcome, young friend," the sphinx spoke in a voice like gentle chimes. "I've been waiting for someone brave enough to find this place."

Emma's knees trembled, but she stood tall. "I'm not afraid of adventures."

The sphinx smiled. "Good. Because this pool holds magic — it shows you your true courage when you're **swimming** in its waters. But you must believe in yourself, or you'll simply see your reflection."

Emma slipped off her shoes and stepped into the cool water. At first, she felt afraid. What if she sank? What if the magic wasn't real? But then she thought of all the times she'd been brave before — climbing the tallest tree, speaking in front of her class, trying new foods.

As she began swimming, something amazing happened. The water glowed golden around her, and she saw herself not as she was, but as she could be — strong, confident, and fearless.
