The Sphinx's Secret Pool
Lily loved visiting her grandmother's old house. In the dusty attic, she found a peculiar painting of a sphinx with emerald eyes. That night, under a bright orange moon, the sphinx in the painting winked at her!
Suddenly, Lily tumbled through the canvas into a magical world. Before her stood a massive stone sphinx covered in golden moss. "Greetings, young traveler," it rumbled kindly. "I've been waiting for someone brave enough to find my secret."
The sphinx led Lily through a starry forest where trees sparkled like diamonds. They arrived at a crystal-clear pool reflecting a majestic bull constellation in the sky. "This is the Wishing Pool," the sphinx explained. "But first, you must solve my riddle."
Lily's heart raced but she nodded bravely. The sphinx spoke: "I have wings but cannot fly, I have eyes but cannot cry. What am I?"
She thought hard, remembering her attic discoveries. "A painting!"
"Correct!" The sphinx's emerald eyes glowed proudly. The pool began to shimmer, and a real bull—gentle and glowing—emerged from the water. This was no ordinary bull; it was the Guardian of Dreams.
"You may make one wish," the bull said softly.
Lily thought carefully. She could wish for endless toys or magical powers. But she remembered how lonely her grandmother seemed in her big house. "I wish for my grandmother to have wonderful friends to share her stories with."
The bull's antlers twinkled. "A wish from the heart is the most powerful magic."
Lily woke up in her bed as the orange sun rose. In the garden, she saw her grandmother laughing with new neighbors. The sphinx painting now hung in Lily's room, its emerald eyes sparkling with a secret smile.
Sometimes the best adventures aren't just about magic—they're about sharing happiness with others. And every night, when the orange moon rose, Lily whispered thank you to the sphinx who taught her that kindness is the greatest wish of all.
