The Sphinx's Secret Pool

Lily discovered the old iPhone buried in a box of forgotten treasures. Unlike regular phones, this one shimmered with an iridescent glow. When she pressed the screen, it didn't show apps or games—instead, it projected a golden map into the air, pointing to a hidden spot behind the garden's oldest oak tree.

Curious and brave, Lily followed the magical map. She pushed aside tangled vines and discovered something breathtaking: a crystal-clear pool that sparkled like liquid diamonds under the afternoon sun. But what made her gasp was what sat beside it—a magnificent sphinx with emerald feathers and kind, knowing eyes.

"Welcome, young seeker," the sphinx rumbled gently. "I've been waiting for someone pure of heart. This is the Pool of Wishes, but it only grants wishes to those who answer my riddle."

Lily's heart fluttered. "I'm ready!"

"What has a screen but shows no movies, has buttons but plays no games, and can connect you to anyone anywhere?"

Lily thought hard. Then she looked at the magical iPhone in her hand. "Is it... a phone? But not just any phone—one that helps people talk and share stories?"

The sphinx smiled, her eyes twinkling like stars. "Close enough, little one. But the real answer is friendship. Phones are just tools. The magic is in how we use them—to share kindness, to help others, to stay connected with those we love."

The pool's water began to glow, and Lily understood. She made her wish: "I wish for everyone to find their own special friend to share magical moments with."

The sphinx nodded approvingly. The pool swirled with rainbow colors, and suddenly, the iPhone showed not just a map anymore, but a way to video-call her grandmother who lived far away. Lily realized the sphinx was right—the real magic wasn't in the phone itself, but in how it brought people together.

Every day after school, Lily returned to visit her sphinx friend by the wishing pool, learning that the most precious treasures aren't things you can hold, but the friendships you make along the way.
