The Sphinx's Secret Pool

Lily loved visiting her grandmother's old house in the countryside. The best part was the mysterious garden behind it, where flowers seemed to hum and trees whispered secrets. One sunny afternoon, Lily found something she'd never noticed before—a tiny wooden padel hidden beneath a rosebush.

The padel sparkled with silver light, and when Lily picked it up, it tugged gently toward the overgrown corner of the garden. Following its pull, she pushed aside thick vines to reveal an ancient stone sphinx, no bigger than a cat, sleeping on a pedestal.

"You found my paddle!" The sphinx's golden eyes popped open, and it stretched like a kitten. "I've waited a hundred years for someone brave enough to seek it."

Lily gasped. "You can talk?"

"I can do more than talk!" The sphinx leaped down and padded to a circle of smooth stones. With the tiny padel, it tapped three times—CLINK, CLINK, CLINK—and the stones parted to reveal a shimmering pool of water that glowed like moonlight.

"This is the Truth Pool," the sphinx explained proudly. "One look, and you see what's in your heart. But beware—not everyone likes what they find."

Lily peeked into the magical water. She saw herself—older, wearing a doctor's coat and helping sick children feel better. She felt warm and happy, knowing her dream of healing others was real.

"The pool shows your true self," the sphinx said softly. "Now you must help others find their truth too. But keep the padel safe—only the kind-hearted can use its magic."

Lily promised, and the sphinx taught her the secret song to open the pool. Every summer, she returned to help other children discover their dreams. Some saw themselves as artists, some as scientists, some as protectors of nature. Each left knowing their heart's true path.

Years later, Dr. Lily opened a children's hospital with a special garden. In its center stood a tiny sphinx statue beside a glowing pool, and nearby lay a silver padel—waiting for the next kind soul to find it.

"Magic lives wherever kindness dwells," Lily would tell her young patients. "And sometimes, all you need is a friend to help you see your own beautiful truth."
