The Sphinx's Secret Pool

Lily loved exploring her grandmother's garden. It was full of secrets – hidden paths, talking flowers, and one very peculiar thing: a tiny pool that shimmered like liquid rainbow.

One hot afternoon, Lily was sitting by the pool when she noticed something odd. A thick orange cable stretched across the grass, disappearing into the bushes. Being curious (and a little bit of a spy, as she liked to tell her friends), she decided to follow it.

The cable led her behind the old oak tree, where something amazing waited.

A tiny sphinx – no bigger than a kitten – sat curled up on a mossy stone. It had the body of a lion, wings like a hummingbird, and the wise face of an owl. Its fur was the color of sunset orange.

"You found my cable," the sphinx said, in a voice like wind chimes. "I'm Cleo, guardian of the Wonder Pool. I've been waiting for someone like you."

"Waiting for me?" Lily gasped.

"To show you the secret," Cleo explained. "The pool isn't just water. It's a window to magical worlds. But I needed someone pure of heart to help me fix it."

Cleo explained that an orange gem – the heart of the pool's magic – had fallen out. Without it, the pool was just water.

"Can I help?" Lily asked eagerly.

Together, they searched. Cleo could fly up high, and Lily could look under things. They found the orange gem hidden in a bird's nest!

"Thank you, Lily," Cleo purred as they placed the gem back. "You weren't just spying today – you were saving magic."

The pool began to shimmer again. Through its surface, Lily glimpsed amazing things – castles in clouds, forests made of candy, oceans of stars.

"Visit whenever you want," Cleo whispered. "But remember – true magic isn't in what you see. It's in the friends you make along the way."

Lily ran home, her heart full of wonder. She couldn't wait for her next adventure in the garden – and she knew the best secrets are the ones you share with friends.
