The Sphinx's Secret Phone
Lily discovered something shiny half-buried in the sandbox. It looked like a small mirror, but when she wiped away the dirt, it glowed with magical colors. It wasn't just any phone—it was a mysterious iPhone that only showed one app: a golden door.
When she tapped it, warm light swirled around her. Suddenly, she wasn't in her backyard anymore. She stood before a magnificent sphinx with crystal eyes and wings like morning light. The sphinx smiled kindly.
"Welcome, young friend," the sphinx rumbled gently. "I've waited many years for someone pure of heart."
Behind the sphinx flowed the most beautiful water Lily had ever seen. It sparkled with tiny stars and made soft music as it bubbled over smooth stones.
"This is the Water of Wonder," the sphinx explained. "It gives children the power to see magic everywhere. But first, you must answer my riddle."
Lily nodded bravely.
"I fall without rain. I flash without fire. I dances across the sky. What am I?"
"Lightning!" Lily cried out, remembering summer storms. "But the good kind that makes the sky beautiful!"
The sphinx's eyes shone brighter. "Correct! You see wonder even in powerful things."
The sphinx cupped some glowing water in her paw. "Drink, and remember: magic lives in ordinary things when you look with your heart."
Lily drank. The water tasted like sunshine and dreams. Suddenly, she saw—her backyard wasn't just a yard. Flowers whispered secrets. Ants built tiny castles. Even ordinary raindrops made rainbows.
"Will I visit again?" Lily asked.
"Whenever you need magic," the sphinx promised. "Just look at your phone with wonder."
Lily tapped the glowing screen and returned home, forever changed. Now, whenever storms brought lightning, she smiled, knowing magic was real—and it lived in curious, kind hearts like hers.
