The Sphinx's Secret Message

Lily loved exploring her grandmother's dusty attic. One rainy Saturday, she discovered something extraordinary hiding behind an old trunk — a small stone statue of a sphinx with emerald eyes that seemed to sparkle.

"Curious child," the sphinx spoke in a voice like rustling leaves. "I have been waiting for someone brave enough to find me."

Lily gasped. "You can talk?"

The sphinx nodded. "I am the guardian of forgotten stories. But I need your help. A thick cable has wrapped around my heart, trapping my magic. It appeared when people stopped reading and started only watching their screens."

Lily looked at her iphone, which she had been about to check. She suddenly understood.

"I know what to do!" Lily exclaimed. She opened her storybook app instead of games and videos. "My grandmother used to read to me from this book. It's about a brave girl who saves a kingdom."

As Lily began reading aloud, the golden words floated from her iphone like tiny butterflies. They danced around the sphinx, wrapping around the dark cable. With each word Lily read — "adventure," "courage," "friendship" — the cable began to glow and shrink.

"More!" cried the sphinx. "Stories are the magic that frees us all!"

Lily read louder, her voice strong and clear. The cable dissolved into thousands of golden sparkles that filled the attic with warm light.

"Thank you," the sphinx said, its eyes twinkling. "You've remembered something important: magic lives in stories, not screens. But you can use your iphone to share stories too."

Lily smiled, understanding now. Technology wasn't bad — it was how she used it that mattered.

"Will I see you again?" Lily asked.

The sphinx nodded. "Whenever you open a book, I'll be there. Remember, Lily: the best adventures happen between the pages of a story, shared with friends."

That night, Lily read to her little brother. And as they laughed together, she saw two emerald eyes watching from the bookshelf, blinking with pride.
