The Sphinx's Secret Lunch
Lily loved playing in her grandmother's backyard, especially near the tall palm tree that swayed in the warm breeze. But today something magical happened.
Behind the palm tree, Lily spotted something golden and mysterious. It was a small sphinx, no bigger than a cat, with tiny wings and kind eyes. The little sphinx looked sad.
"I've lost my magic," the sphinx said in a voice like wind chimes. "I can't fly back to the clouds without my special lunch."
Lily wanted to help. "What do you need?"
"The emerald leaves from the garden," the sphinx explained. "But I'm too small to reach them."
Lily rushed to grandmother's vegetable patch and returned with bright green spinach leaves. The sphinx's eyes sparkled. With one bite of the magical spinach, golden sparkles swirled around them!
The sphinx grew bigger and stronger, its wings shimmering like sunshine. "You're a true friend," the sphinx said. "You saw past my small size and helped when I needed it most."
"But you're not small anymore!" Lily laughed.
"That's because your kindness made me grow," the sphinx replied. "Friendship is the strongest magic of all."
The sphinx flew Lily to the top of the palm tree, where they watched the sunset paint the sky in purple and orange. From that day on, Lily learned that even small acts of kindness can create big magic—and the best friends are those who help each other soar.
Every afternoon, Lily and her sphinx friend shared spinach snacks under the palm tree, creating their own adventures in the backyard that became the most magical place on earth.
