The Sphinx's Secret Gift

Lily loved exploring her grandmother's attic. One rainy afternoon, she found something extraordinary hidden behind old boxes—a miniature golden pyramid no bigger than her palm. The tiny pyramid glowed warmly, and when Lily touched it, the room swirled with sparkles.

Suddenly, a creature appeared—a beautiful sphinx with the body of a lion and the face of a wise woman. Her fur shimmered like honey in sunlight.

"You found my home," the sphinx said gently. "I am Cleo, guardian of the Sunshine Pyramid. Are you a friend?" Lily nodded, eyes wide with wonder.

Celo explained that inside her pyramid grew the most magical fruit in all the world—a single orange that appeared every hundred years. This orange contained special sunshine vitamins that could make one wish come true.

"But the orange only appears for someone with a pure heart," Cleo said. "Would you like to see it?" Lily's heart pounded with excitement.

The sphinx touched Lily's forehead, and suddenly they were inside the pyramid—a chamber filled with golden light. In the center, on a crystal pedestal, sat the perfect orange, glowing like a tiny sun.

Celo plucked it and peeled it carefully. "The magic is not in eating it," she whispered. "The magic is in sharing."

She divided the orange into twelve segments—eleven for her to share with children who needed sunshine in their lives, and one for Lily.

"This orange's vitamin isn't like the ones in medicine bottles," Cleo explained. "It's made of kindness. When you share something special, you spread more light than any sun could."

Lily understood. She ran home and gave her orange segment to her little brother, who had been feeling sad. The moment he smiled, Lily felt warmer than any summer day.

The sphinx had taught her the best secret of all: friendship and sharing are the most powerful magic in the universe.
