The Sphinx's Secret Gift

Lila loved exploring her grandmother's attic, filled with dusty treasures from around the world. One rainy afternoon, she discovered something extraordinary — a small golden sphinx with emerald eyes, no bigger than her palm.

"Curious child," the sphinx whispered, startling Lila so much she almost dropped it. "I've been waiting centuries for someone like you."

Lila's brown hair stood on end with excitement. "You can talk?"

"I can do much more," the sphinx said. "I can show you wonders beyond imagination. But first, you must promise to use what you learn to help others."

Lila promised instantly. The sphinx's emerald eyes glowed, and suddenly the attic transformed. Sun-drenched sand stretched beneath her bare feet. Before her rose a magnificent golden pyramid, reaching toward a sky bluer than any she'd ever seen.

"Welcome to ancient Egypt," the sphinx said, now life-sized and towering above her. "But this isn't just any pyramid. It's the Library of Dreams, where every child's wish is preserved."

Inside, walls sparkled with crystallized dreams — castles made of candy, flying bicycles, trees that grew chocolate bars. Lila gasped at the beauty.

"These dreams need guardians," the sphinx explained gently. "Will you help children remember theirs?"

Lila nodded enthusiastically. The sphinx pressed its paw to her palm, transferring a warm, golden light. "Now you carry the Gift of Dreams. When someone has forgotten how to wish, you'll help them remember."

Back in the attic, Lila examined her palm. A tiny pyramid-shaped mark glowed briefly before fading. The golden sphinx sat silently on the shelf, its emerald eyes twinkling.

From that day on, Lila noticed something magical. When children felt sad or hopeless, she knew exactly what to say to rekindle their dreams. A word of encouragement here, a story of possibility there, and suddenly their eyes would brighten.

Years later, Lila became a teacher, helping every child discover the dreams waiting inside them. And sometimes, when she needed guidance most, she'd feel a warmth in her palm and remember the sphinx's wisdom — the greatest gift is helping others believe in their own magic.
