The Sphinx's Secret Gift

Lily loved her grandmother's stories about ancient Egypt. One rainy afternoon, while playing with her grandmother's old iphone, she discovered something strange. A glowing app shaped like a pyramid appeared on the screen!

Curious, Lily tapped it. Suddenly, her room swirled with golden sparkles!

When the sparkles cleared, Lily stood before a magnificent stone sphinx in a desert oasis. The creature had the body of a lion and the wise face of a human.

"Welcome, young seeker," the sphinx rumbled gently. "I've been waiting for someone pure of heart."

Lily's eyes widened. "Are you real?"

"As real as your dreams," the sphinx smiled mysteriously. "I guard something special. But first, you must answer my riddle."

The sphinx paused dramatically. "What fruit is sweet like sunshine, grows in tropical lands, and has seeds black as tiny pearls?"

Lily thought hard. Her family had vacationed in Hawaii last year. "A papaya!"

"Correct!" The sphinx's eyes twinkled. "Behind me lies the Secret Pyramid, where children's dreams are kept safe. You may swim in its magical pool—one wish granted to those who brave its waters."

Inside the pyramid, Lily gasped. The pool glowed with rainbow colors! She jumped in, swimming through liquid starlight. It felt like flying!

"What do you wish for?" the sphinx asked.

Lily thought of her grandmother, who couldn't travel anymore. "I wish Grandma could see all the wonderful places in the world."

The sphinx smiled. "A selfless wish." He pressed a golden papaya into Lily's hands. "Eat this, and your grandmother will see through your eyes on every adventure."

Lily found herself back in her room, the golden papaya on her pillow. It tasted like sunshine and magic!

That summer, Lily and Grandma "traveled" everywhere—to Egypt's pyramids, Hawaii's beaches, even the moon's craters—all through the papaya's magic.

"This is the best adventure ever," Grandma would say, her eyes shining.

And whenever Lily looked at her iphone, she'd smile. Sometimes the best magic isn't found in apps at all, but in kindness and love.
