The Sphinx's Secret Garden

Luna was a small orange cat with white paws and the biggest dreams in all of Cairo. While other cats chased mice and napped in sunbeams, Luna wanted to see the world beyond her courtyard walls.

One moonlit night, Luna crept past the sleeping guards and climbed to the top of the Great Pyramid. There, she saw something magical—a gentle blue bull made entirely of stardust, grazing on clouds that drifted between the pyramids.

"You're far from home, little one," said a voice like ancient bells.

Luna turned to find a sphinx, but not like the stone one she'd seen every day. This sphinx had golden fur that shimmered like honey, wings of rainbow feathers, and kind eyes that held the wisdom of a thousand years.

"I'm Starlight," the sphinx said. "And that's Cloudwalker, the moon bull. He only appears to those with brave hearts."

Cloudwalker lowered his massive head and nudged Luna gently. His nose felt like cool moonlight.

"We're looking for courage," Starlight explained. "The desert has lost its magic because people have forgotten how to dream. Will you help us?"

Luna's heart beat fast, but she nodded. She was just a small cat—what could she do?

Starlight touched her paw to Luna's forehead. "Then ride, little friend."

Luna climbed onto Cloudwalker's back, and together they soared across the desert. From above, Luna saw children sleeping in their beds, their dreams dim and gray. She purred softly, and silver ribbons of hope flowed from her heart, wrapping around each child like a blanket.

By dawn, the desert glowed with renewed magic. Starlight gifted Luna a small golden scarab that would always guide her home.

"Remember," the sphinx whispered as Luna curled up in her own bed, "even the smallest heart can light up the darkest night."

From that night on, Luna was still just a cat—but she was also a keeper of dreams, and every child in Cairo slept a little more soundly, knowing somewhere, a tiny orange cat and her magical friends were watching over them.
