The Sphinx's Secret Garden

Lily loved exploring her grandmother's attic. One rainy afternoon, she found something peculiar hiding behind an old trunk—a tiny golden sphinx no bigger than her thumb, with emerald eyes that twinkled like stars.

"Greetings, young adventurer," the sphinx spoke in a voice like chiming bells. "I am Zara, guardian of the Secret Garden. But I haven't eaten my special spinach in three hundred years, and I've grown too weak to show you the wonders within."

Lily's eyes widened. "Spinach? But that's just a vegetable!"

"Not just any vegetable," Zara explained. "In our garden, every leaf of spinach holds a magical vitamin that gives you the power to fly, talk to animals, and paint rainbows in the sky. But someone locked the garden gate long ago, and the key was hidden inside a riddle."

Lily's heart pounded with excitement. "I love riddles! What do I need to do?"

Zara smiled. "Simply bring me three fresh spinach leaves from your kitchen, and I'll regain my strength. Then together, we'll unlock the garden again."

Lily rushed downstairs, where her mother was preparing dinner. She spotted a bag of fresh spinach on the counter. But then she remembered her little brother Timmy, who always complained about eating his vegetables.

"Wait," Lily whispered to herself. "What if Timmy needs the magical vitamin more than anyone?"

She thought carefully, then grabbed the spinach and hurried back to the attic.

"Zara," Lily said bravely, "can we share the magic? My brother Timmy hates vegetables, but maybe if he knew spinach had magical powers, he'd try it. Can we show him the garden too?"

The tiny sphinx's emerald eyes glowed brighter than ever. "You've solved the real riddle, Lily! The true magic isn't just in the spinach—it's in sharing wonder with others. That's the greatest vitamin of all: kindness."

Zara grew until she was the size of a cat, her golden wings shimmering. She touched each spinach leaf with her paw, and they began to sparkle.

That evening, Lily and Timmy sat at the dinner table. When Lily sprinkled the sparkling spinach on Timmy's plate, he gasped.

"It's glowing!" Timmy exclaimed. He took a bite and suddenly could hear the birds outside singing actual words.
