The Sphinx's Secret Garden
Far away in Egypt, where golden sands stretch forever, there stood a great pyramid. The pyramid had guarded its secrets for thousands of years. But the most amazing thing wasn't inside the pyramid at all.
Behind the ancient stone walls lived a sphinx named Sophie. Most sphinxes loved to ask tricky riddles to travelers. Sophie was different. She had a wonderful secret.
Every night, when the moon rose high above the desert, Sophie would sneak behind the pyramid. There, in a hidden oasis, she tended to her magical garden.
Sophie grew the most extraordinary vegetables. But her absolute favorite was spinach. Giant emerald spinach leaves that sparkled like jewels in the starlight. This wasn't ordinary spinach — it gave anyone who ate it the power to fly for one whole hour.
One evening, a young boy named Amir got lost in the desert. He had been chasing a beautiful blue butterfly and wandered too far from his village. The sun was setting, and Amir was frightened.
Sophie spotted him from atop her pyramid. She swooped down gracefully on her golden wings. "Little one, are you lost?" she asked gently.
Amir's eyes grew wide. "You're a sphinx! Will you ask me a riddle?"
Sophie smiled. "I have a better idea. Would you like to fly home?"
She led Amir to her secret garden and offered him a magical spinach leaf. His eyes widened with wonder as he took a bite. Suddenly, Amir felt lighter than air. He began to float, then soar!
Sophie flew beside him as they glided over the desert. Below them, the pyramid glowed in the moonlight. Amir spotted his village and flew down, landing softly beside his home.
"Thank you, Sophie!" he called, waving.
The sphinx winked and disappeared into the night.
Amir never forgot his magical friend. And sometimes, when he ate spinach, he could almost feel his feet lifting off the ground.
The moral? Sometimes the most wonderful things are hidden in unexpected places — and true friends help each other fly.
