The Sphinx's Secret Garden

Mia hated spinach. Every time her mom served it, she made a yucky face. But today, everything changed.

While playing in her grandmother's garden, Mia noticed something strange. A tiny stone sphinx sat between the rosebushes, and it was winking at her!

"Hello there!" squeaked the sphinx, jumping to life. "I'm Cleo! Are you ready for an adventure?"

Mia rubbed her eyes. "You're alive?"

"Indeed!" Cleo twirled. "Follow me!" She scurried behind the old oak tree, where a miniature pyramid shimmered in the sunlight. It was only as tall as Mia, but it sparkled like diamonds.

"This is the Pyramid of Power," Cleo explained. "But it's fading. We need magical spinach to restore it!"

"Spinach?" Mia wrinkled her nose. "But I hate spinach!"

"Not ordinary spinach!" Cleo giggled. "Magical spinach! It glows green and tastes like sunshine!"

They searched the garden until Cleo pointed. "There!" Behind the tomato plants grew leaves that actually glowed! Mia picked one and took a tiny bite.

"It's... it's wonderful!" She ate another leaf, then another. Suddenly, she felt energy zoom through her toes to her nose.

"Quick!" Cleo cried. "Feed the pyramid!" Mia placed a glowing leaf on top of the pyramid. CRACK! A tiny bolt of lightning struck the pyramid, making it blaze with golden light.

"Now try running!" Cleo cheered.

Mia took a step and ZOOM! She was running so fast everything blurred. She circled the garden ten times in one second!

"You've been blessed with the Gift of Speed!" Cleo announced. "Use it wisely!"

Mia used her new power to help her grandmother carry groceries, rescue kittens from trees, and finish her homework in record time. And whenever the power faded, she ate more magical spinach.

"You know," Mia told Cleo later, "spinach isn't so bad after all."

Cleo smiled. "Sometimes the things we think we hate are exactly what we need."

Mia nodded, already planning tomorrow's adventure. With a sphinx friend, a magical pyramid, and super-speed running, life was never boring again!
