The Sphinx's Secret Garden

Lila loved exploring behind her house, where the jungle grew thick and mysterious. One afternoon, while running through the tall grass, she discovered something amazing — a golden sphinx sleeping beneath a massive palm tree!

The sphinx opened one amber eye. "Hello, little one," it rumbled softly.

Lila wasn't afraid. "Hello, Mr. Sphinx. Why are you sleeping here?"

"I'm guarding something precious," the sphinx said, sitting up. "But I'm very hungry. I haven't eaten in three hundred years."

"What do sphinxes eat?" Lila asked.

The sphinx looked embarrassed. "Spinach. Magical spinach from the secret garden beyond those palm trees. But I can't leave my post."

Lila's eyes sparkled. "I'll help you!"

She sprinted toward the grove of palm trees, their leaves swishing in the warm breeze. Beyond them lay a glowing garden where emerald spinach leaves shimmered like jewels. Lila gathered the biggest, most beautiful ones she could find.

But a small dragon blocked her path. "Only those who answer my riddle may pass," it chirped.

"I love riddles!" Lila said.

"What has hands but cannot clap?"

Lila thought hard, then grinned. "A clock!"

"Correct!" The dragon stepped aside. Lila gathered the magical spinach and came running back, her heart pounding with excitement.

The sphinx ate the spinach and glowed brighter than the sun. "You've shown great kindness, Lila. For your help, I'll grant you one wish."

"I wish for everyone to see that magical creatures can be friends," she said without hesitation.

The sphinx smiled. "Your heart is pure. Come visit anytime."

From that day on, Lila visited her sphinx friend often, bringing spinach and sharing adventures. She learned that the best magic of all is kindness, and the greatest adventures begin with helping others in need.
