The Sphinx's Secret Garden
Lily loved exploring her grandmother's attic. Rain drummed against the roof as she opened dusty boxes until she found something magical—a golden padel racket with sparkling strings!
"Curious," whispered a voice. Lily spun around to see a tiny stone sphinx perched on an old trunk, no bigger than her hand. Its emerald eyes twinkled.
"You can talk?" Lily gasped.
"I'm Cleo," said the sphinx, stretching her stone wings. "And that racket? It opens secret places."
Cleo hopped onto Lily's shoulder as tennis balls began bouncing down the attic stairs by themselves. "Follow!" Cleo chirped.
Down and down they went, deeper than any basement should go. The air shimmered with colors. Suddenly, they splashed into an underground grotto filled with glowing water.
Hundreds of goldfish swam in crystal pools, but these weren't ordinary fish. They had tiny backpacks and worked together building bridges of pebbles across the water.
"We need your help!" cried a goldfish with a red hat. "Our friend Paddles is stuck on the other side!"
Lily spotted a small goldfish trapped on a stone island, too far to jump. The magical padel racket in her hands began to glow warmer.
"Hit the tennis balls gently!" Cleo directed. "They'll create stepping stones!"
Lily served the bouncing balls across the water. Each one became a glowing platform. The goldfish cheered as she built a magical path. Paddles swam across safely, and the whole school celebrated with bubbles that tasted like strawberry.
"You saved me!" Paddles said, doing a happy flip. "Now we can finish building the Friendship Fountain!"
Lily watched the goldfish work together, each one contributing a special stone or shell. Even small creatures could do big things when they helped each other.
"Time to go," Cleo whispered as the grotto began to fade.
Back in the attic, Lily hugged the sphinx. "Can I visit again?"
"Whenever you want," Cleo smiled, curling up on the trunk. "True friends always find their way back."
That night, Lily dreamed of tennis balls turning into stars, leading her back to her magical friends far below.
