The Sphinx's Secret Garden
Felix was a small **fox** with a very big problem — he was afraid of everything. Rustling leaves made him jump. His own shadow made him scurry. Even the morning dew on spider webs seemed too scary.
One afternoon, while running from a butterfly, Felix tumbled through a thicket and landed in the most peculiar place. A glowing archway led to a garden that shimmered like moonlight.
"Welcome, little one," boomed a gentle voice.
Felix looked up. Up and up. Perched atop a stone pedestal was a magnificent **sphinx**. But she wasn't scary at all — her eyes sparkled like starlight, and her smile was warm.
"I've been waiting for you," the sphinx said. "In this garden, you'll find what you seek. But first, you must help the others."
She pointed to a pond where a tiny **goldfish** swam in frantic circles.
"I forgot where my home is!" the goldfish cried. "Everything looks the same from down here!"
Felix wanted to run away. But something about the goldfish's worried face made his paws stay put.
"I can help," said a deep, rumbly voice.
A massive **bear** emerged from behind a willow tree. Felix trembled, but the bear only offered a friendly wave. "I'm Barnaby. I can lift you up to see."
The bear gently scooped up the goldfish in his paw and raised her high. She spotted a small stream trickling into the pond.
"That's it! That's the way home!" she squealed.
A scruffy **dog** with one floppy ear bounded over. "I'm Duke! I'll race you there!"
They all followed the goldfish to her home, where a whole family of fish celebrated her return.
"You were brave," the sphinx appeared beside Felix. "Not because you weren't afraid, but because you helped anyway."
Felix realized she was right. His paws hadn't run away. His heart had been racing, but he'd stayed.
"True courage," the sphinx whispered, "is being scared and doing what's right anyway."
Felix walked home with his new friends — a bear, a dog, and even the goldfish swimming alongside in a special traveling bubble. His shadow still followed him, but now it looked like a brave little fox indeed.
