The Sphinx's Secret Game
Lily discovered something magical behind the old oak tree. A tiny sphinx, no bigger than her cat, sat guarding a pile of glowing crystals.
"These are star vitamins," the sphinx whispered. "They make wishes grow strong."
Lily's eyes widened. The crystals shimmered like captured sunshine. "Who are you?"
"I'm Zephyr, guardian of the garden's magic." Zephyr's wings sparkled with dewdrops. "But I need help. A shadow spy comes at night, trying to steal the vitamins."
Lily puffed out her chest. "I'll help you catch them!"
Every evening, Lily became Zephyr's spy. She hid in the bushes, watching for the thief. But instead of a villain, she discovered something surprising.
The shadow spy was Zephyr's lonely brother, who just wanted to play.
"I've been watching you both," said the brother sadly. "I love how you play padel against the fence, hitting pinecones back and forth. It looks so fun."
Lily looked at Zephyr. "We could all play together!"
So every sunset, Lily, Zephyr, and his brother played their special game with pinecones and twigs. The star vitamins weren't stolen anymore because the real magic wasn't in the crystals.
The real magic was friendship.
Lily learned that sometimes, what looks like a problem is actually just someone asking to be included in the fun. And that's the greatest secret of all.
