The Sphinx's Secret Game

Leo threw the baseball high into the sunny sky, watching it soar like a mini sun. He'd been practicing every afternoon in his backyard, dreaming of making the school team. But today, something strange happened.

The baseball didn't come down.

Instead, it floated through a shimmering patch of air that suddenly appeared above the oak tree. Curious, Leo stepped through — and found himself in a golden desert where a massive pyramid stretched toward the clouds.

"You've got quite an arm!" a voice rumbled.

Leo turned to see a friendly sphinx with emerald eyes and a gentle smile sitting beside the pyramid. "I'm Cleo," she said. "Care to play?"

"Play what?" Leo asked, his eyes wide.

Cleo winked. "How about padel? It's like tennis, but more magical!" She waved her paw, and suddenly two padel racquets appeared, made of stardust and moonlight.

Leo's new friend taught him how to hit glowing orbs that sparkled like fireflies. Every time Leo missed, Cleo cheered louder. "Magic isn't about being perfect," she said. "It's about trying with joy in your heart!"

They played until the stars appeared, laughing and spinning through the golden sand. "You're a wonderful friend, Cleo," Leo said.

"And you're a wonderful player," Cleo replied, pressing something into his hand. "A gift — remember, magic follows wherever friendship goes."

Leo stepped back through the shimmering air, finding himself in his backyard again. But now, in his pocket, sat a tiny golden pyramid that glowed whenever he needed encouragement.

From that day on, Leo played baseball with a smile, win or lose. And sometimes, when the wind was just right, he could almost hear Cleo cheering him on.

Because the real magic wasn't in the desert or the games. The real magic was believing in yourself — and having friends who believe in you too.
