The Sphinx's Secret Game

Lily loved playing baseball in her backyard, but today she wanted adventure. Following a twinkling butterfly, she wandered past the old oak tree and discovered something magical—a golden pyramid hidden in the woods!

Inside the pyramid sat a friendly sphinx with emerald eyes and a warm smile.

"Welcome, young one!" the sphinx purred. "I've waited centuries for someone brave enough to find me. Would you like to play a special game?"

Lily nodded excitedly. The sphinx led her to a shimmering blue pool where baseballs floated like lily pads.

"In this game," explained the sphinx, "you must hit three magical baseballs into the pool. Each ball grants a wish!"

Lily stepped up to the plate. *SWING!* The first ball splashed into the pool, turning into glowing spinach.

"Eww, spinach!" Lily wrinkled her nose.

The sphinx chuckled softly. "Never judge something by its appearance. This spinach gives you the strength of ten tigers—but only if you're brave enough to taste it."

Lily hesitated, then took a tiny bite. Surprisingly, it tasted like strawberries and sunshine! Suddenly, she felt strong enough to lift a car.

*SWING!* The second ball created a rainbow bridge.

*SWING!* The third ball summoned a beautiful baseball field where animals played happily.

"You're remarkable," the sphinx said warmly. "Many children run away from spinach, but you trusted me. That's the real magic—courage and an open heart."

Lily hugged the sphinx. "Can I come back?"

"Always," promised the sphinx. "Remember: the most wonderful discoveries come from trying new things."

Lily skipped home, dreaming of tomorrow's adventure. And from that day on, whenever she saw spinach on her plate, she smiled—because magical things often come in unexpected packages.
