The Sphinx's Secret Game

Leo loved baseball more than anything in the world. Every Saturday, he played in the sunny park with his friends, but he had one big worry - he was always the slowest at running around the bases. The other kids would cheer, but Leo could hear them whispering. He wished he could be faster.

One dreamy afternoon after practice, Leo spotted something magical near the old oak tree. A tiny stone sphinx, no bigger than a kitten, with emerald eyes that sparkled like the first stars of evening. Leo knelt down, and to his amazement, the sphinx spoke in a voice like chimes in the breeze.

"I've watched you play baseball, young Leo," the sphinx said with a mysterious smile. "I know why you're slow at running. You carry such heavy worries on your shoulders. But I can teach you something special."

The sphinx explained that true power comes from joy and friendship, not from trying so hard. It taught Leo a magical phrase to say before running: "I fly with happy feet!" The sphinx promised that believing in magic would help him believe in himself.

At the next game, Leo stepped up to the plate, his heart fluttering like a trapped butterfly. When he hit the ball, he remembered the sphinx's words and whispered, "I fly with happy feet!" Something amazing happened - Leo's running felt light as sunshine, swift as a summer breeze. His teammates gasped as he zoomed around the bases, sliding into home just in time.

After the game, Leo ran back to the oak tree. The sphinx was waiting, its emerald eyes glowing with pride. "See? The magic was inside you all along," the sphinx whispered. "You just needed to believe."

Leo realized the sphinx had taught him the most important lesson - believing in yourself is the greatest magic of all. From that day on, Leo ran with joy, played with friendship in his heart, and never let worry slow him down again.
