The Sphinx's Secret Friend
Luna was a curious orange cat with whiskers that twitched when she sensed adventure. One afternoon, she followed a sparkling butterfly past her backyard fence and into a hidden garden she had never seen before.
In the center of the garden stood a magnificent palm tree with leaves that shimmered like emeralds in the sunlight. But what made Luna gasp was what sat beneath it—a tiny sphinx no bigger than a kitten, with small wings and gentle eyes.
"Hello, little cat," the sphinx said softly. "I've been waiting a very long time for someone clever enough to find my garden."
Luna's tail puffed with excitement. "I'm Luna! Who are you?"
"I am Orion, and I am very lonely," the sphinx sighed. "For one hundred years, I've waited for a friend who could answer my riddle. Will you try?"
Luna nodded eagerly. Just then, her friend Felix the fox trotted into the garden, his red tail bouncing. "Luna! Where have you been? I've been looking everywhere!"
"Felix!" Luna meowed. "This is Orion! He has a riddle, and if we solve it, we can be his friend!"
Orion smiled. "Here is my riddle: I have four legs in the morning, two legs at noon, and three legs in the evening. What am I?"
Felix's ears perked up. He knew this one! But instead of answering himself, he looked at Luna. "Luna, what walks on four legs when it's little, two legs when it grows up, and uses a cane when it's old?"
Luna's eyes widened. "A person! Humans crawl as babies, walk on two legs, and use canes when they're elderly!"
"Correct!" Orion cheered, his small wings fluttering. "You worked together, and that's even better than solving it alone. That's the real answer—friendship makes us smarter."
From that day on, Luna, Felix, and Orion met under the magical palm tree every afternoon. They learned that the best adventures are the ones we share with friends, and that working together is the cleverest solution of all.
And somewhere in that hidden garden, if you listen closely, you might still hear them laughing together—a cat, a fox, and a sphinx, the most unlikely but happiest friends in the world.
