The Sphinx's Secret Friend
Luna the sphinx sat alone under the swaying palm tree, her golden wings folded tight against her body. Though she had the body of a lion and the head of a wise creature, nobody wanted to play with her. Everyone said sphinxes were too serious, always asking impossible riddles.
One sunny morning, a clever little fox named Rusty trotted by, followed by his best friend Barnaby, a gentle bear with fur like honey-colored clouds.
"Why are you so lonely?" Rusty asked, his bright eyes twinkling.
Luna sighed. "Nobody likes riddles. But I can't help it—it's just who I am."
Barnaby sat down and patted Luna's paw with his own. "Maybe we could like you for who you are, riddles and all."
Luna's eyes widened. Nobody had ever said that before! Just then, something sparkled in the sand near the palm tree's roots. Luna dug it out with her claws. It was small and black, with a glowing screen.
"What is this magic?" Luna wondered.
Rusty laughed. "That's not magic! That's an iphone! A human must have dropped it here."
The three friends gathered around the mysterious device. Luna had never seen anything like it. The screen showed pictures of people smiling together, friends holding hands, families sharing meals.
"This iphone shows how humans connect," Luna whispered. "They don't need riddles to make friends. They just... talk to each other."
Barnaby nodded thoughtfully. "Maybe you don't need riddles either, Luna. Maybe you just need to ask simple questions. Like 'Will you be my friend?'"
Luna looked at her new friends—clever Rusty, kind Barnaby—and felt something warm bloom in her chest. It was better than any riddle's answer.
"Will you be my friends?" Luna asked softly.
"Yes!" they cried together.
And so under the shade of the palm tree, three unlikely friends learned the best lesson of all: true friendship doesn't require solving impossible puzzles. It only requires an open heart and the courage to ask.
That night, Luna buried the iphone safely back in the sand, knowing she had found something far more magical—friendship that would last forever.
