The Sphinx's Secret Friend
Luna was no ordinary cat. She was golden as sunshine, with whiskers that twitched at magic. Every night, she'd sneak to the old museum, where something wonderful waited.
In the dusty garden stood a stone sphinx, ancient and mysterious. Luna would curl up beside its giant paws, purring stories about her day—the birds she'd chased, the naps she'd taken, the little girl next door who always gave her treats.
One moonlit night, Luna noticed something strange. The sphinx's stone eye twinkled!
"Hello, little friend," the sphinx rumbled, her voice like wind through pyramids. "I've listened to your stories for months. Thank you for keeping me company."
Luna's tail puffed up in surprise! The sphinx had been alive all along!
Suddenly, something stumbled from the shadows—a clumsy, greenish figure with stiff arms and a confused expression. It looked like a zombie, but not a scary one. More like a zombie who'd forgotten how to zombie.
"I... I think I'm lost," the zombie said sadly. "I was supposed to be scary for Halloween, but I keep tripping over my own feet."
The sphinx laughed kindly. "Perhaps you're not meant to be scary. Perhaps you're meant to be something else entirely."
Luna had an idea. She started running in circles, chasing her tail until the zombie giggled. Then she pounced on a fallen leaf, making the zombie laugh out loud.
"You're not scary at all," the sphinx said wisely. "You're a friend who brings joy."
The zombie's face lit up. "A friend? I've never been a friend before!"
From that night on, the three were inseparable. Luna the cat, Sophie the sphinx, and Zane the zombie (who was really just a lonely magical creature looking for belonging) had the most wonderful adventures running through moonlit gardens, proving that the best magic of all is friendship.
