The Sphinx's Secret Friend

Mia discovered the old iPhone in her grandmother's attic. But this wasn't like any phone she'd ever seen. It glowed with a soft blue light and had golden hieroglyphs etched along its sides.

"What is it?" her new friend Leo asked, peering over her shoulder. They had just finished playing padel at the park, laughing as they chased the ball back and forth.

"I don't know," Mia said, turning it over in her hands. "But it feels... warm. Like it's alive."

Suddenly, lightning flashed outside the attic window. A bolt struck nearby, and the iPhone burst to life! Golden swirls of light filled the room, forming the shape of a magnificent sphinx.

"Hello, young friends," the sphinx spoke, its voice like gentle thunder. "I've been waiting for someone to find my message-phone for three thousand years."

"Your what?" Leo asked, eyes wide.

"My message-phone!" The sphinx smiled. "I was once a lonely wizard who created magical devices to help people make friends. This iPhone—that's 'I Phone' as in 'I Want to Phone Friends'—was my greatest invention. But I got too greedy and lost my true friends along the way. Now I need your help."

"What do we need to do?" Mia asked bravely.

"Play padel with me!" The sphinx laughed. "And share your friendship freely. For that's the real magic—not devices or tricks, but caring about others."

The sphinx taught them that day that the best way to make friends wasn't through magic or special tools, but through kindness, play, and genuine connection. The old iPhone became their secret treasure—not to call faraway kingdoms, but to remind them that real friendship comes from the heart.

"Thank you, Sphinx Friend," Mia and Leo said together.

"No, thank YOU," the sphinx whispered as its golden form faded away. "For reminding an old wizard what truly matters."

That evening, Mia and Leo sat on her porch, watching the sunset. They didn't need the magical iPhone anymore. They had something better—each other, and the knowledge that friendship is the greatest magic of all.
