The Sphinx's Secret Friend

Mia was playing with her dad's old iphone in the backyard when something magical happened. She was tapping buttons on the screen when suddenly, the air shimmered like glitter, and a golden pyramid appeared right beside the swing set! It wasn't big — just tall enough for Mia to walk inside.

She stepped through the golden doorway, and her eyes grew wide. Inside, walls sparkled like stars, and sitting on a crystal throne was a small sphinx with emerald eyes and a smile like sunshine.

"Hello, Mia!" the sphinx said. "I've been waiting for someone kind to visit."

The sphinx explained that she guarded something very precious: a tiny goldfish named Glimmer who could grant one wish to someone with a pure heart. But first, Mia had to solve a riddle.

"I'm green when I'm fresh, I make you strong and healthy, I grow in gardens, and I'm full of vitamins. What am I?"

Mia thought hard. She looked around the pyramid and noticed small plants growing in pots along the walls. The leaves were green and leafy. "Spinach!" she shouted.

"Correct!" The sphinx clapped her paws together. A beautiful pond appeared, and Glimmer the goldfish swam toward Mia, his scales shimmering like rainbow jewels.

"You have one wish," the sphinx whispered.

Mia thought about toys, candy, and adventures. But then she looked at the lonely sphinx, who had waited so long for a friend. "I wish for you to have a friend who will visit you every day."

The sphinx's eyes filled with happy tears. Glimmer swam in excited circles, and Mia felt warm inside, like drinking hot cocoa on a snowy day.

From that day on, Mia visited her sphinx friend after school. They played riddle games, ate spinach sandwiches from the garden, and Glimmer always did happy flips whenever Mia arrived.

Mia learned that the best wishes aren't for ourselves, but for others. The iphone still worked, but Mia didn't need it anymore. She had the most magical friend in the world, right inside her own pyramid.
